Weld School Instructor

NABRICO Marine Products, Inc is searching for a Welding School Instructor. In this role, you will provide the Ashland City, TN manufacturing plant with welding and technical support such as perform welding training in a classroom setting and on the shop floor as required, conduct classroom and welding process troubleshooting, process improvement and procedure and code conformance. The Welding School Instructor will have strong hands-on welding skills, visual weld inspection experience, and experience using welding procedure specifications.

NABRICO Marine Products, Inc., is a leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on U.S. inland waterways. NABRICO Marine Products manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges, that are used to transport a variety of products including grain, coal, and aggregates. NABRICO Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes. Additionally, NABRICO Marine Products provides a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform hands-on training to current and new employees' various processes such as FCAW, SAW, SMAW, plasma/oxyfuel cutting, and air-carbon-arc gouging processes.
  • Inspect welds to ensure all quality requirements are met.
  • Conduct classroom training as required on welding safety, welding and cutting processes, visual weld acceptance criteria, welding symbols, drawings, etc.
  • Maintain welder candidate training, testing and qualification records as required.
  • Troubleshoot welding technique and routine equipment issues in the weld school.
  • Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Weld Code standards, and all safety regulations.
  • Proficiently perform flat (1F), horizontal (2F), vertical (3F), and overhead (4F) fillet welds.
  • Proficiently perform flat (1G), horizontal (2G), vertical (3G), and overhead (4G) groove welds.
  • Perform routine tasks such as maintaining welder continuity, welding equipment calibration, and flux oven logs.
  • Evaluate, propose, and implement welding process improvements to increase welding efficiency and quality.
  • Assist in qualifying welding procedure specifications as required.
  • Participate in welding improvement projects/other duties as required.

What You’ll Need:

  • Must be able to work first shift
  • 3 - 5 years FCAW, SAW, and SMAW welding experience
  • Proficient using various weld inspection tools such as amp/volt/wire feed/gas flow meters, fillet weld gages, undercut gages, etc.
  • Able to read and comprehend welding symbols, welding procedure specifications, work instructions, drawings, bill of materials, etc.
  • Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ABS, or other applicable welding procedure specifications
  • Working knowledge of weld filler materials and base materials
  • Possess written and oral communication skills
  • Regular and predictable attendance, a great attitude, with the ability to work well with a team toward achieving a common goal
