Job Description
- Interpreting plans:Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to understand project requirements.
- Preparing materials:Cleaning and preparing metal surfaces for welding, which may include cutting materials to the correct size and shape.
- Setting up for welding:Positioning, aligning, and securing metal components according to the project specifications.
- Performing welds:Using various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick) to join metal parts.
- Quality control:Inspecting finished welds for defects and ensuring they meet all specifications and safety standards.
- Equipment maintenance:Maintaining and repairing the welding machinery and equipment they use.
- Following safety procedures:Adhering to strict safety regulations and using the correct personal protective equipment.
Skills
- Physical stamina for tasks like lifting heavy objects and working in restricted or harsh environments.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of metallurgy, thermal dynamics, and welding techniques.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
