Location: Hawaiʻi (Jobsite & Shop-Based)
Department: Equipment
Reports to: Equipment Manager
Position Type: Full-Time
Status: Non-Exempt
At Alpha Inc., we don't just fix equipment — we keep the machines that build Hawaiʻi running.
We're looking for a highly skilled Welder who takes pride in craftsmanship, works safely under pressure, and knows that every weld matters when thousands of pounds of steel and equipment are on the line.
This isn't a "clock in and coast" role.
This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground role where your work directly supports the heavy equipment powering major infrastructure, energy, and construction projects across the islands.
If you take pride in precision, problem solving, and being the person who keeps the fleet moving when things break, you'll fit right in here.
Founded and grown in Hawaiʻi, Alpha Inc. is a locally owned leader in heavy civil construction, renewable energy, drilling, concrete, and infrastructure development. The work we do today will serve our communities for generations.
Everything we do is grounded in three core values:
Lead with Heart – We treat our team like family and prioritize safety, respect, and support.
Strength in Unity – Big projects require strong collaboration across crews, shops, and divisions.
Alpha Mentality – We show up ready to solve problems, improve every day, and deliver excellence.
As a Welder at Alpha, you play a critical role in keeping our fleet reliable, safe, and ready for the toughest jobs in the islands.
As a Welder, you'll repair, fabricate, and maintain metal components that support Alpha's heavy construction equipment fleet and infrastructure work across Hawaiʻi.
Your work ensures the structural integrity and reliability of machines used in demanding field environments.
Perform welding repairs and fabrication for heavy construction equipment and structural components.
Travel to job sites as needed to support equipment repairs and operational needs.
Cut, join, and repair metal components on equipment, rigs, piping, and related systems.
Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment, grinders, clamps, saws, and measuring tools.
Maintain and inspect welding tools to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Read blueprints and measurements to determine welding layout and procedures.
Inspect welded surfaces and structures to ensure strength, durability, and quality standards.
Perform welds in flat, vertical, and overhead positions depending on equipment configuration.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Follow all company and industry safety protocols.
Submit accurate time and equipment usage reports.
Support additional tasks and equipment repairs as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
We're looking for professionals who combine technical skill with the mindset of a problem solver and team player.
Minimum 3 years of welding experience required.
Experience working with heavy equipment or industrial applications strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of welding equipment, materials, and metal properties.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and measurements preferred.
Welding certification from an accredited institution preferred.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working around and under heavy machinery.
Able to work in varying physical environments including field job sites.
The best welders at Alpha demonstrate:
Attention to Detail – Your welds hold the operation together.
Ownership – You solve problems before they slow the crew down.
Alpha Mentality – You take pride in doing the job right the first time.
Benefits eligibility may vary based on role and employment status.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; we are unable to sponsor employment visas. Employment eligibility will be verified upon hire.
If you need a reasonable accommodation during the application or hiring process, please contact us at careers@alphahawaii.com.
