Job Summary
Responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing metal structures and equipment by applying appropriate welding techniques while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, cutting, grinding, and fitting materials.
- Perform welding using processes such as MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), or Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
- Inspect welded joints to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
- Operate welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
- Repair damaged metal components and structures.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
- Record completed work and report any defects or issues.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational training or welding certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a welder or fabricator.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of welding methods, materials, and safety practices.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various environments.
- Good attention to detail and quality workmanship.
