Welder (SHEET METAL, AUTOMOTIVE EXPERIENCE)

Job Summary

Responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing metal structures and equipment by applying appropriate welding techniques while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, cutting, grinding, and fitting materials.
  • Perform welding using processes such as MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), or Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
  • Inspect welded joints to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Operate welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
  • Repair damaged metal components and structures.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
  • Record completed work and report any defects or issues.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training or welding certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as a welder or fabricator.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Knowledge of welding methods, materials, and safety practices.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in various environments.
  • Good attention to detail and quality workmanship.
