Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Temp Welder/Fabricator/Fitter to join our manufacturing and construction team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing your welding, fabrication, and fitting expertise in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and possess a strong mechanical aptitude to contribute to high-quality assembly and fabrication tasks on construction sites and manufacturing facilities. This position is temporary but provides valuable hands-on experience in a variety of welding techniques and fabrication processes, ensuring safety, precision, and efficiency at every step.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques on a variety of metals and structures.
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal components, equipment, and structural elements.
- Inspect equipment and structures to identify damage, wear, and required repairs
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Cut, shape, and prepare metal materials using appropriate tools and equipment
- Ensure all welding and fabrication work meets safety standards and quality specifications
- Maintain and repair fences, gates, railings, piping systems, and structural frameworks
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, tools, and fabrication machinery
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and fire prevention procedures
- Support general maintenance activities as needed to ensure facility functionality
- All other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least 3 years’ welding experience
- Welding certification preferred but not required
Required Skills/ Abilities
- Proven experience as a welder or fabricator in a maintenance, industrial, or similar environment.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Strong knowledge of metal properties, fabrication methods, and welding standards
- Experience operating cutting tools, grinders, and fabrication equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and procedures
Physical Requirements
- Proof of measles vaccination or updated titers prior to initial contact with animals.
- Current results of TB testing or be tested prior to initial contact with animals. Annual tuberculosis screening is required of all employees.
- Employees may occasionally need to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate facility equipment.
- Required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment in each area as described by SOPs.
- Has the ability to withstand ambient temperatures which may exceed 90°F.
- Personnel must be able to carry out the essential functions of this position with reasonable accommodation if disabled.
Environmental Working Conditions
- Potential exposure to disinfectants, chemicals, biologics, infectious agents, animal dander, and dust.
- Normal scientific laboratory conditions may work with hazardous material and unpleasant odors.
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
