Welding Engineer

Minimum Qualifications: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/ Welding Engineering or related discipline.

Additional Qualification: Knowledge and practical experience of welding procedures such as SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW and SAW.

Minimum Experience: 2 - 5 years post qualification experience in welding engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer or AWS Certified Welding Engineer status.

Job-Specific Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing through memos and engineering reports.
  • Understanding of mechanical and structural components as it relates to welding engineering assessments and recommendations.
  • Fundamental knowledge in NDE; ability to categorize and quantify weld defects.
  • Must be able to work well with others in a team setting.
  • Must be able to effectively handle many concurrent projects.
  • Experience in welding carbon and low alloy steels, stainless steels and nickel based alloys.

Generic Skills:

§ Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.

§ Attention to detail and documentation.

§ Exposure to MS Office packages – Excel, Word, PowerPoint

§ Knowledge or experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.

§ Knowledge of laser and friction welding processes.

§ Knowledge of quality systems.

§ NDE Experience.

3. JOB PURPOSE:

To provide welding engineering consulting services for engineering, manufacturing, and quality departments. Conduct welding engineering projects to enhance the function, profitability or marketability of the products. Develop, qualify and provide technical expertise with procedures and welding techniques to support the fabrication of equipment.

5. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

§ Analyse engineering designs for welding requirements.

§ Has responsibility of coordinating multiple projects and directing outside test laboratories and contract welding facilities.

§ Plan, conduct, track and report welding engineering investigations.

§ Review subcontractor welding code and design requirements are satisfied.

§ Oversee welding procedure qualification and generate welding procedures to assist manufacturing and welding personnel.

§ Investigate new developments in the field of welding to evaluate their possible application to improve or remedy existing welding processes.

§ Provide welding engineering support to Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to fabricate equipment in accordance with all applicable code and customer requirements.

§ Provide technical support with industry standards and specifications such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, AWS, API, CSA, ISO and NACE.

§ Coordinate failure analysis and root cause analysis on welding related issues.

6. COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:

§ Projects Engineers, Planning Engineers – Frequently on a daily basis.

§ Technical Department – Daily basis for coordination and status update.

External:

§ Contractors – Regularly through progress meetings.

§ Consultants. - Business related.

§ Customers/Dealers - Business related – Daily.

7. FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES & DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:

§ Decisions making in relation to the Project function including site activities.

§ Decisions related to the Operations of the Department.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: AED10,000.00 - AED12,000.00 per month
