Welding Engineer - Metallurgical

The Welding Engineer is responsible for overseeing welding engineering activities for Oil & Gas construction projects, ensuring compliance with international standards and project specifications. The role includes preparation and qualification of welding procedures, consumable selection, weld failure analysis, and technical support for fabrication of pressure vessels, piping, pipelines, and storage tanks.

  • Prepare, review, and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), PQR, and WPQ.
  • Select appropriate welding consumables for various materials including Corrosion Resistant Alloys (CRA).
  • Provide technical expertise on welding processes and weldability of materials.
  • Conduct weld-related failure analysis and root cause investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, ASTM, API, BS/EN/ISO and other international codes.
  • Support fabrication activities including pressure vessels, piping, pipelines, and tanks.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC, inspection, and construction teams.
  • Review welding documentation and ensure proper traceability.
  • Support site construction and commissioning activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to welding inspectors and fabrication teams.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Welding Engineering or
  • Professional Certification in Welding Engineering (IWE, CWE, or equivalent approved certification).
  • ASNT Level II certification in RT, UT, MT, and PT.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in welding-related activities within Oil & Gas projects.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes and metallurgy including CRA materials.
  • Experience in construction of Oil & Gas facilities (Pressure Vessels, Piping, Pipelines, Tanks).
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
