Job Title: Welding Inspector

Location: Qatar
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

The Welding Inspector is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and ensuring all welding activities meet project specifications, codes, and safety standards. The role involves close coordination with welders, engineers, and quality teams to maintain the highest quality of welds and structural integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect welds to ensure compliance with drawings, codes, and standards (ASME, AWS, API, etc.).
  • Verify welding procedures (WPS, PQR, WPQ) and ensure they are correctly implemented.
  • Conduct visual inspections and non-destructive testing (VT, RT, UT, PT, MT) as required.
  • Check welding consumables, materials, and equipment for suitability and traceability.
  • Review and maintain all welding documentation, including inspection reports and repair records.
  • Monitor pre-weld and post-weld operations (joint preparation, fit-up, cleaning, etc.).
  • Identify and report non-conformances and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with clients, third-party inspectors, and QA/QC departments.
  • Ensure all welding activities adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Certification: AWS-CWI, CSWIP 3.1, or equivalent.
  • NDT Level II in VT, MT, PT, RT, UT (ASNT).
  • Strong knowledge of ANSI B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, ASME Section V, VIII, IX, API 620/650, AWS D1.1, ISO 14692.
  • Experience with RTFI, PMI, Hardness, Ferrite, and Heat Treatment.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in welding inspection (oil & gas, fabrication, or construction projects).
  • Knowledge of international welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API, ISO).
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, report preparation).
  • Must have minimum 10 years of inspection experience in manufacturing plants (with at least 2 years in the relevant field).
  • Must be fluent in English (read, write, and speak).
  • Should be familiar with ISO 9001 Quality Systems, engineering drawings, and industry standards.
