Welding Inspector

Job Description

  • CSWIP or AWS certified or have comprehensive knowledge and experience of 10 years in welding inspection at refineries or petrochemical plants.
  • Shall have thorough knowledge of applicable welding codes and standards including AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104, and ASME B31.3.
  • Capable of reviewing and approving Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) records.
  • Shall perform pre-weld inspection including joint preparation, fit-up, alignment, root gap, bevel angle, and pre-heat verification.
  • Shall perform in-process welding inspection including inter-pass temperature monitoring, welding parameter verification, and inter-pass cleaning.
  • Shall perform post-weld inspection including visual examination, dimensional checks, and PWHT verification.
  • Knowledgeable in various welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW, and their applicable parameters.
  • Shall review and interpret weld maps, isometric drawings, and welding symbols. Capable of identifying welding defects and discontinuities and determining disposition in accordance with applicable codes.
  • Responsible for complete record keeping and documentation of all welding activities, welder qualifications, and welding inspection reports.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

  • CSWIP or AWS certification or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of welding inspection experience in refinery/petrochemical projects
  • Strong knowledge of ASME, AWS, and API welding standards
  • Experience in WPS, PQR, WPQ approval and inspection stages
  • Ability to identify welding defects and ensure compliance
  • Relevant project experience of O&G (project construction, QA/QC & Commissioning) is mandatory
  • Candidate must have valid certificates – copy shall be provided along with CV
