You can be instrumental in improving the lives of FITM students by working in a collaborative, interactive environment to create an optimized learning environment for our students' success in gaining employment in Welding. First Institute Training & Management, an established workforce development organization in Illinois and California, is seeking a Welding Instructor for our mobile welding lab. Candidates must have a minimum three years of welding, fitting experience, and must travel across the State. Training and/or teaching experience is a plus. Applicants should have experience in welding and must also possess knowledge of SMAW and GMAW welding processes.

Duties

  • Develop and deliver engaging welding curricula that align with industry standards and certification requirements
  • Conduct classroom instruction and supervised practical sessions on welding techniques including MIG and plasma cutting
  • Assess student progress through evaluations, practical tests, and project reviews to ensure skill mastery
  • Maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety protocols and best practices in all training activities
  • Provide guidance on industry standards for manufacturing, construction, HVAC systems, automotive repair, and maintenance sectors
  • Support students in preparing for industry certifications and employment opportunities in welding-related fields

Skills

  • Proven experience teaching welding techniques with classroom experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical knowledge across various industries including manufacturing, construction, automotive repair, aerospace, HVAC/R systems, plumbing, and electrical work
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards such as OSHA regulations
  • Ability to develop comprehensive curriculum tailored for adult education learners
  • Knowledge of learning management systems for instructional delivery
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively teach diverse student populations
  • Ability to demonstrate welding safety procedures while fostering a positive learning atmosphere

Pay: $28.87 - $34.76 per hour
