Welding Supervisor

Position Overview:
This position’s overall purpose is to lead the weld shop for high standards, production quality and results, workforce safety, and customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities:

Ensure production procedure/methodology are properly implemented and adhered to at all times
-
Lead and assure safe work environment including standards, practices, reinforcements and training
-
Is available to support directly or remotely all welding production shifts
-
Welding operators are properly trained to deliver the required weld quality and throughput
-
Maintain welding operator qualification files
-
To coordinate, establish, enforce requirements that ensure first class on-time record for: Cost effective production; efficient use of corporate resources and personnel; ensure that all sales/production orders are completed in an efficient cost/time effective manner; all sales order, production, ISO, API and other QA requirements are satisfied; and ensure timely shipping of quality product

Develop and implement the necessary programs, schedules, and workflow to ensure satisfaction of production requirements

Build, develop and supervise staff as required according to plan/direction developed

Create and enforce weekly production schedules

Create implement and adhere to business/production plans and budgets

Works in close partnership with Welding Engineer

May perform any other work-related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by immediate supervisor

Must be able to perform all functions of your direct report(s) job including technical skills
Skills and Abilities:
-
Experienced or ability to quickly learn the programming of welding automation equipment – Fronius and Arc Specialties Cladding Equipment
-
Experienced in optimizing welding variables to ensure maximum weld quality and production throughput
-
Ability to troubleshoot Arc welding processes
-
Problem solving and troubleshooting production workflow processes, schedules and shop procedures
-
Hands on ability to orchestrate, implement, direct and train all production related employees
-
Ability to promote and lead continuous improvement within the department.

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding
-
Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills
-
Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy
-
Works well with meeting multiple deadlines with the ability to deliver on time
-
Computer literate; good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
-
Good written and verbal communications skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired but not required
Core Qualifications:
-
2 year technical college or equivalent work experience required. Must be knowledgeable and can demonstrate proficiency in the following welding processes:
-
Hot Wire Gas Tungsten Arc Welding
-
Submerged Arc Welding
-
Pulse Gas Metal Arc Welding
-
Shielded Metal Arc Welding
-
Minimum of 4 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing/production weld shop environment.

Must be knowledgeable and can demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
-
Following work and process instructions
-
Interpreting and implementing Welding Procedures
-
Interpreting Engineering Drawings and associated welding symbols
-
Shop floor scheduling
-
CWI is preferred but not required
-
Working knowledge of QA, ISO9001, API, ANSI, ASME, industry standards and specifications
-
Experience with valve manufacturing preferred
