POSITION TITLE:
Welding Technician D6

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Constructs, installs, maintains, and repairs athletic equipment, hand rails, security screens, metal ramps, and other metal structures by welding together metal components of products as specified by layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, welding procedures, or oral instructions, using electric arc welding equipment and gasoline welders.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Pipe Welding Certification (API 6G) preferred
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
  • Knowledge of APS community, computer system, financial and legal requirements.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple.
  • Knowledge of installation, maintenance, modification and repair of welding projects.
  • Proficiency in the use of testing equipment and other hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Knowledge of all applicable codes, regulations and laws.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Standard Welding Certification (AWS)
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment skills test.
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license with insurable driving record.
  • Five years of experience in all phases of welding.
