Western Lane Crisis Response Transport Driver

Job Summary
Join the Western Lane Crisis Response (WLCR) team as a Transport Driver, providing safe, voluntary, non-medical transportation for adults (18+) experiencing behavioral health challenges, substance use concerns, or life crises when no other transportation options are available. Drivers support community safety and well-being by helping individuals access services such as detox programs, sobering centers, shelters, and crisis stabilization resources throughout Lane County. This role requires safe vehicle operation, professional communication, situational awareness, and the ability to remain calm while working with individuals in emotional distress. WLCR transport services are drop-off only and do not include waiting for services or providing return transportation. This position is part of a grant-funded pilot program, with the long-term goal of expanding transport services to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Schedule

  • Part-time
  • 12-hour shifts: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Current operating days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Two drivers work together during each shift.

Compensation

  • $50 per shift (12-hour shift)
  • $20 per hour during transport
  • $25 monthly cell phone stipend
  • Eligible for PERS retirement benefits as applicable

Duties

  • Safely transport clients to approved community resources within Lane County
  • Operate agency vehicles using defensive driving practices
  • Maintain situational awareness and client safety
  • Communicate with WLCR staff, clients, and community partners
  • Complete transport documentation and logs
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness
  • Report safety concerns or incidents to supervisors
  • Participate in required training and meetings

Skills/Qualification

Applicants must have:

  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License
  • Clean driving record
  • Must be insurable under Western Lane Fire and EMS Authority
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic ability to use GPS, tablets, and mobile devices
  • Professional and respectful demeanor with diverse populations

Pay: $20.00 per hour
