Job Overview

Under direction of the Wildlife Administrator, conducts inspections for wildlife activity on and near the airport in order to ensure the airport’s compliance with CFR Part 139 per procedures identified in the airport’s Wildlife Hazard Management Plan (WHMP). Monitors wildlife activities and habitat management efforts. Ensures compliance of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Interfaces regularly with the Airfield Operations Officers, Assistant Airfield Operations Officers, and Airfield Operations Agents in inspecting, monitoring, reporting, and dispersing wildlife activity on the airport property. Evaluates recommended activities for efficacy and implements recommended actions as needed to include wildlife dispersal operations. Researches alternative options, communicates findings, and provides documentation as required.

What you will be doing:

  • Conducts regular wildlife inspections of facilities on airport property, documents the activity, and submits reports of those inspections to the Wildlife Administrator.

  • Conducts dispersal and depredation operations of wildlife on airport property.

  • Sustains and facilitates the repair of equipment utilized for the wildlife program.

  • Participates with airport tenants and community leaders in WHMP-oriented activities.

  • Assists the Wildlife Administrator with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports such as, wildlife strike data, day-to-day operations, documenting wildlife activity etc.; prepares oral and written briefings for supervisory staff, industry Stakeholders, Airline Stakeholders, and the FAA.

  • Prepares presentations and conducts tours for outside agencies and VIPs.

What you need:

  • Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent plus two (2) years of college.

  • Two (2) years of experience engaged in a wildlife hazard management program.

  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.

  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.

Special requirements:

  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.

  • This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.

  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) security access clearance within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for CBP security access clearance upon each CBP security access renewal.

  • This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in DFW Airport’s Categories and Classifications Administrative Policy and Procedure. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.

What we desire:

  • Bachelor’s degree in wildlife science, environmental science, biology or a related field.

  • Experience working at an airport or on airfield.
