Job Summary:

The Wind specialist is responsible for technical training, 2nd level support to all maintenance activities in particular to troubleshooting, technical review of documentation and equipment specifications, assurance of technical best practices, support on root cause analysis services to the extent required, assure asset integrity and compliance with corporate and international standards or guidelines. Ensure all Operating Wind projects in ACWA Power are delivering beyond availability guarantees, liaise with centralized services of Predictive Analytics/ CMS and power performance monitoring, and propose existing or new technical solutions for local wind fleet as required.

Wind Specialist s therefore accountable for technical support, while ensuring best maintenance practices are applied across the whole Wind portfolio, towards best availability and performance across Egypt Wind operating fleet.


Responsibilities:

  • Close monitor local plants availability and ensure shortfalls are identified on a timely manner and resolved in a prompt and permanent way.
  • Ensure best technical O&M practices are applied by all WTG subcontractors of all local wind plants, towards top performing wind plants.
  • Ensuring best maintenance practices are applied in local wind projects, towards best plants’ performance.
  • Approve key engineering changes to WTG of local plants, to ensure design integrity.
  • Identify vendors with equipment causing continued reliability issues
  • Provide technical support in RCAs led by Business areas engineering, to the extent required.
  • Jointly participate in QA/QC inspections and follow ups during project early stages to the extent required to ensure assets reliability and integrity during operation.
  • Report quality in all maintenance activities and provide guidance to continuously and effectively improve it.

Engineering Support:


  • Design review and review of equipment technical specifications for both, Wind turbine Generators and Electrical BoPs.
  • Participate, when appropriate, and contribute to near miss investigations by providing the technical expertise in the discipline.
  • Identifying long term solutions for assigned tasks related to reliability issues that are deemed safety critical / urgent / high value to key stakeholders.
  • Participate in the relevant network groups and provide guidance on Best Practices. Ensure lessons learned from worldwide fleet are implemented locally and local LLs are shared globally.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and training on the wind technologies installed in local plants, covering all maintenance activities - particularly in troubleshooting - towards best WTG O&M efficiency and WTGs availability.
  • Be 2nd level support for troubleshooting activities towards shortest mean times to repair.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering discipline
  • Minimum 10 years' experience


Required Skills:

  • Extensive technical knowledge on Envision technologies, with strong practical hands-on experience as service technician. Strong motivation and ability to transfer knowledge and experience as technical trainer.
  • Detailed knowledge and excellent understanding of: Power generation O&M, Asset Lifecycle Management.
  • Technical knowledge also of Goldwind technologies is preferred.
  • World class knowledge of asset specific design, construction and operation
  • Technical knowledge and experience in Electrical BoPs is preferable.
  • Motivation to work by technical assignments/ campaigns with specific targets across the Wind fleet
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proficient in English communication– verbal and written.
