Winemaking Planner II

LangeTwins Family Winery & Vineyards – Acampo, CA
Full-Time | On-Site

Are you passionate about planning, problem-solving, and all things wine production? LangeTwins Family Winery & Vineyards is looking for a Winemaking Planner II to help bring our wines from harvest to bottle with precision, creativity, and collaboration. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy cross-functional teamwork, and love the idea of helping orchestrate the journey of premium wines, this may be the perfect role for you.

About the Role

The Winemaking Planner II manages the master planning schedule from harvest through bottling, ensuring we meet production demands, uphold quality standards, and deliver exceptional results for our clients. You’ll collaborate closely with winemaking, cellar, and bottling teams to build and maintain short- and long-term production plans.

From managing tank utilization and wine shipments to coordinating grape receiving during harvest, this role plays a key part in keeping our operations smooth, efficient, and well-connected. If you enjoy planning, organizing, forecasting, and being the “go-to” person who keeps all the moving parts aligned - you’ll fit right in!

What You’ll Do

  • Follow all LangeTwins safety policies and procedures.
  • Review cellar activities and help shape workflow policies that maximize efficiency without compromising safety, sanitation, or wine quality.
  • Create, update, and distribute a rolling six-week Cellar Activity Calendar to help guide bottling, shipments, filtrations, and day-to-day production tasks.
  • Provide daily communication to the Cellar Master, monitor work orders, adjust priorities, and help resolve production conflicts.
  • Evaluate inbound wine shipments and bottling schedules to support effective tank utilization and planning decisions.
  • Develop and manage wine loss analysis, using data and KPIs to support continuous improvement.
  • Manage the Vintages in Progress (VIP) system, including reconciling demand forecasts, updating bulk movements, and ensuring accurate real-time communication.
  • Monitor operational processes and proactively communicate concerns or needed adjustments to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • In collaboration with Winemaking, manage bulk wine availability, tank assignments, sampling, and shipment coordination.
  • During harvest, coordinate daily with growers to schedule grape receiving and ensure alignment with cellar capacity and winemaking needs.
  • Participate in daily cross-functional production meetings and communicate changes that may impact logistics, tank assignments, or harvest flow.
  • Lead and develop reporting team members through coaching, performance evaluations, and KPI-driven expectations.
  • Support other projects and duties as needed - every day brings something new!

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Enology, Viticulture, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a relevant field - or equivalent related experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in winemaking planning, production scheduling, winery operations, or a similar analytical/production support role.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities; you’re someone people trust and enjoy working with.
  • Ability to build a culture of teamwork, accountability, and respect.
  • Solid understanding of winemaking processes, production workflows, and how to translate operational needs into accurate plans.
  • Advanced organizational, analytical, and planning skills - juggling multiple priorities is your superpower.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, data analysis, forecasting).
  • Experience with ERP systems or winemaking/production planning software is a plus.
  • Strong math skills, including ratios, percentages, fractions, and basic algebra.
  • Excellent written communication skills for reports, planning documents, and correspondence.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required.
