Position Overview
A Finishing Carpenter specializes in the final stages of carpentry work, ensuring high-quality finishing of wooden elements such as doors, frames, cabinets, wall cladding, furniture, and decorative joinery. The role requires precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail to deliver aesthetically pleasing and durable finishes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Finishing & Installation
- Fabricate and install wooden doors, frames, skirting, architraves, cabinets, wardrobes, and wall panels.
- Carry out touch-ups, refinishing, and polishing on wood surfaces.
- Ensure seamless alignment, leveling, and fitting of carpentry elements.
2. Fabrication Support
- Interpret shop drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Cut, shape, and assemble wooden components using hand and power tools.
- Prepare surfaces for finishing by filling gaps, smoothing edges, and correcting imperfections.
3. Quality Control
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with project standards.
- Identify defects and apply corrective measures to achieve a flawless finish.
- Ensure color matching and consistency across all installed elements.
4. Site Execution
- Work in coordination with engineers, supervisors, and other trades.
- Measure site dimensions and adjust materials or components accordingly.
- Install hardware such as hinges, locks, handles, and accessories.
5. Tools & Safety
- Operate tools such as sanders, planers, routers, sprayers, and hand tools.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Adhere to HSE guidelines and ensure a clean, safe work environment.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in finishing carpentry or joinery.
- Strong understanding of different wood types, veneers, MDF, and finishing materials.
- Excellent hand-finishing skills and eye for detail.
- Ability to read technical drawings and measurements.
- Knowledge of modern finishing materials (polyurethane, lacquer, stain, sealer, etc.).
- Good physical stamina and the ability to work on-site.
