Quixotic Woodworks – Liberty Hill, TX

Quixotic Woodworks is seeking a Woodworker’s Assistant to support our custom furniture shop. This is a hands-on, apprenticeship-style role for someone who enjoys working with their hands, values quality craftsmanship, and is eager to learn fine woodworking in a real studio environment. Will recently suffered a knee injury and needs help getting through the backlog of projects that he has.

About Us

Quixotic Woodworks was founded in 2019 by master woodworker Will Wade, a former sushi chef turned full-time furniture maker. The shop specializes in heirloom-quality, sustainable custom furniture, frequently using reclaimed materials. Will’s work is influenced by Polynesian shields, Japanese design, and brutalism, and his Etsy shop (www.etsy.com/shop/Quixoticwoodworks) ranks among the top woodworking sellers on the platform. The shop culture balances high standards with creativity, humor, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials for builds
• Safely operate shop equipment including table saw and router table
• Measure, cut, sand, stain, and assist with glue-ups
• Prepare shipping crates and boxes
• Maintain shop cleanliness and safety
• Occasional post office and material runs

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of power tools and shop safety
• Experience with table saw and router table is required
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Ability to think ahead and anticipate needs
• Laid-back personality with a good sense of humor
• Respectful, collaborative team player
• Organized and deadline driven

Nice to Have

• Previous shop or woodworking experience
• Joinery experience
• Leatherworking or welding experience
• Comfortable around animals (we have a few shop cats)

• Part-time to start, with potential for more hours in the coming months
