Summary:
Supports patient care team by doing duties related to environmental, (i.e., light maintenance) and transporting patients, charts, specimens, and equipment throughout the hospital complex. Provides training and orientation of newly hired transporters, as well as periodic re-training of existing staff on new procedures or changes.
Formal Education Required:
a. Ability to read, write and understand English and follow instructions, both verbal and oral.
b. High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Training Required:
a. Six (6) months work experience which has provided leadership skills.
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Must be 21 years of age or over at time of hire.
b. Must be competent in the following: Respirator fitting, Radiation exposure protocol and Body Mechanics.
c. Population Specific Competency:Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
Level of Physical Demands:
a. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time, frequent pushing, pulling and lifting of patients, cleaning of equipment and materials.
b. Exposure to blood and body fluids, sharps, contagious diseases, risk of falls and strains as common in a healthcare environment.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
