Job Summary

The Workers’ Compensation Coordinator will oversee workers’ compensation claims from the initial incident report to case closure. This position will serve as the main liaison between employees, managers, insurance carriers, and medical providers.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of hands-on experience in workers’ compensation claims management and exposure to related HR leave processes such as FMLA, ADA, and return-to-work programs. The role requires exceptional organization, communication, and follow-through skills, along with a proactive approach to injury management and employee care.

This is a contract 1099 Role

This role will be part time 8AM-130PM daily.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of workers’ compensation claims from initial report through closure, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution.
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers, medical providers, and legal counsel as needed to support claim progression and resolution.
  • Monitor claims for timely reporting, medical treatment, and closure, maintaining consistent communication with all parties involved.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and correspondence for each claim in compliance with internal and legal requirements.
  • Lead and manage the Return-to-Work Program for employees returning from workers’ compensation or related leave, ensuring smooth and safe reintegration.
  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners to ensure consistent claim handling across all regions.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers regarding workers’ compensation procedures and expectations.
  • Prepare and deliver reports to leadership summarizing claims data, status updates, and potential risks.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing workers’ compensation claims (multi-state preferred).
  • Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and related HR leave administration.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal workers’ compensation regulations and best practices.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience using HRIS or claim management systems.
  • Prior experience in a retail, construction, or field-based operations environment is preferred.

Education

BS Degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience

Physical requirements/Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 15 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
