Job Responsibilities:

1. To provide job and career readiness services to youth who are referred to CJS for vocational and career support services.

2. To comply with CJS policies and the Division of Youth Services Performance Standards pertaining to Vocational and Career Support Services.

3. To provide a career assessment, along with assisting youth to explore career options.

4. To coordinate with Job Corps and the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services (ADWS) in connecting juveniles transitioning to the labor market to appropriate vocational services and career support, including employment opportunities.

5. To coordinate with vocational and technical departments at technical, vocational, and two- or four-year colleges or universities to provide opportunities for juveniles who qualify.

6. To assist youth in enrollment and actively support attainment of trade licenses or certifications, and subsequent job or apprenticeship placement.

7. To follow any regulations or guidelines under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Jobs for Arkansas Graduates (JAG) program.

8. To develop and implement Client Intake Records, Case Plans, Parental Consents, Client Performance Evaluation Records, and other applicable forms.

9. To complete client notes and client narratives as appropriate to the case plan.

10. To develop and implement Exit Conferences and Discharge Summaries.

11. To attend and complete 15 hours of continuing education and job related training.

12. To understand CJS policies and procedures.

13. To maintain regular and consistent contact with the youth and family.

14. To attend court hearings and home visits.

15. To receive and follow the requirements of the Arkansas Mandated Reporter Training at all times.

16. To seek prior authorization from immediate supervisor or designee for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

17. To perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Graduate of an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, criminal justice, behavioral science, or a related field of study.

2. Minimum of two years experience working with delinquent or at risk youth.

3. Valid driver’s license.

4. Proof of vehicle insurance.

5. Clear driving record.

6. Successfully pass a criminal, adult and child maltreatment central registry background check and driving record check.

7. Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.

8. Regular and predictable job attendance.

9. Ability to work both independently and as an active team member.

10. Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.

11. Ability to maintain professional demeanor while exercising judgment and discretion on and off the agency’s work site.

12. Ability to maintain client confidentiality.

13. Working toward becoming proficient with computer functions and software utilized by the agency.

14. Ability to write reports and correspondence.

15. Commitment to the mission, values, and goals of Comprehensive Juvenile Services, Inc.
