In support of SUNY Orange's workforce development strategy, SUNY Orange Plus delivers high-impact programs that promote public safety, accountability, and positive behavior change. These programs support individuals impacted by alcohol- and drug-related driving offenses while strengthening pathways to stability, employment, and community reintegration.

We are currently seeking a qualified Non-Credit Impaired Driver Program (IDP) Instructor to support the delivery of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Impaired Driver Program, a mandatory education program for individuals convicted of alcohol or drug-related driving offenses. This is a part-time position, not to exceed 29 hours per week, requiring day, evening, and/or weekend availability. The position is located at the Middletown campus, with travel between the Newburgh and Middletown campuses as necessary.


Job Requirements:


Education/Experience Required:

An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, social work, human services, or a related field; OR a High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of one (1) year experience in substance use disorder counseling, behavioral health or human services, social work, psychology, criminal justice, education, or a related field. Must be eligible for approval as a New York State DMV Impaired Driver Program (IDP) Instructor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CASAC certification.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in teaching, counseling, or adult education.
  • Prior experience in workforce development, community education, or mandated programs.

Salary: $31-$35 per hour, commensurate with experience
