Workshop and Maintenance Supervisor - OSI

T__he maintenance supervisor will work hand in hand with the workshop supervisor to ensure maximum efficiency. The responsibilities of both roles will be:

Key Responsibilities – Maintenance Supervisor:

1. Maintenance Planning & Execution

  • Plan, schedule, and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance for drill rigs and associated equipment (top drives, mud pumps, draw works, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics).
  • Ensure maintenance activities minimize rig downtime and support continuous drilling operations.
  • Review maintenance histories and adjust schedules based on equipment performance and failure trends.

2. Supervision & Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and supervise mechanics, electricians, and technicians assigned to the rigs.
  • Assign daily work tasks and verify job completion quality.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to improve team technical competency.

3. Equipment Reliability & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults on drilling equipment.
  • Coordinate major repairs, overhauls, and component replacements.
  • Liaise with OEMs and vendors for technical support, upgrades, and warranty issues.

4. Safety, Health & Environment (HSE)

  • Enforce compliance with HSE policies, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, job safety analyses (JSA), and risk assessments.
  • Investigate equipment-related incidents and implement corrective actions.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and spare‑parts usage.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports for rig management.
  • Support audits, inspections, and asset integrity reviews.

6. Spare Parts & Cost Control

  • Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring availability of critical components.
  • Forecast maintenance budgets and control costs without compromising safety or reliability.
  • Review and approve work orders and material requisitions.

7. Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with workshop supervisor, drilling supervisors, senior department members, and HSE teams.
  • Support rig moves, commissioning, and de‑commissioning activities.
  • Ensure maintenance work aligns with drilling plans and operational priorities.

Qualifications Required:

Education:

Diploma or Degree in:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Heavy Equipment / Industrial Maintenance
  • Technical or trade certification accepted with strong experience.

Experience:

  • 8–12+ years in drilling rig or heavy equipment maintenance.
  • 3–5 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Experience with land rigs, near shore rigs, mining rigs. (depending on operation).

Technical Competencies:

  • Diesel engines and power generation systems
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Electrical troubleshooting (AC/DC, PLC basics preferred)
  • API and OEM maintenance standards
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance planning tools.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Lock‑out / tag‑out (LOTO)
    • Permit to work systems
    • Hazard identification and risk management
  • Leadership & Personal Skills
  • Strong leadership and decision making abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in remote and rotational environments.
  • High level of accountability and safety awareness.
