JOB OVERVIEW

  • The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the automotive service workshop. This job is responsible for managing workshop technicians, coordinating repairs and maintenance schedules, and ensuring optimal workflow efficiency, ensuring all vehicles are serviced to the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Workshop Supervisor ensures that the workshop operates smoothly, profitably, and in compliance with the standards set by Mercedes-Benz and internal policies.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise daily workshop activities, ensuring optimal technician productivity and workflow management
  • Allocate repair orders and assign jobs to technicians based on skill level and workload. • Monitor repair times, job progress, and ensure timely completion of service and repair jobs.
  • Perform quality checks on completed jobs to ensure workmanship meets manufacturer standards. Lead, coach, and motivate the team of workshop technicians to maintain high morale and performance.
  • Conduct daily team briefings, delegate tasks, and monitor attendance and punctuality.
  • Identify training and development needs and support continuous professional growth of team members.
  • Ensure staff compliance with workshop health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with service advisors to understand customer needs, provide technical advice, and ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Assist in resolving complex technical issues or customer complaints related to workshop work.
  • Support the front-of-house team with accurate estimates, timelines, and updates on vehicle repairs.
  • Coordinate with the Workshop Administrator to ensure parts availability and inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor the proper use and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.
  • Liaise with parts and procurement teams to minimize downtime due to parts unavailability.
  • Review job cards, technician reports, and ensure accurate completion of documentation.
  • Provide daily and weekly performance reports, technician efficiency, and productivity reports to management.
  • Monitor and report on key KPIs including job turnaround time, first-time fix rate, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with Mercedes-Benz service standards and internal workshop procedures.
  • Conduct routine audits to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational excellence in the workshop environment.
  • Enforce ISO, manufacturer warranty, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilise sound judgment in decision making.
  • Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 3-5 years working experience in a similar role.


EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field


SKILLS/BEHAVIOUR ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong understanding of automotive diagnostics, repair procedures, and workshop technologies.
  • Proficiency in using Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and job scheduling platforms.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and repair manuals.
  • Sound knowledge of workshop safety protocols and quality assurance standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail with a results-driven mindset.
