Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including evaluating wound etiology, size, depth, exudate, and infection signs using advanced diagnostic techniques.
- Develop and implement personalized wound management plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as debridement, dressings, compression therapy, and advanced modalities like dermal fillers or laser treatments when appropriate.
- Administer specialized treatments including botulinum toxin injections for pain management or spasticity reduction in select cases.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, physical therapists, nutritionists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on wound prevention strategies, proper dressing techniques, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications to support healing.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing wound care practices and patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Current Nurse Practitioner licensure with certification in wound care or related specialties preferred; active state license required.
- Proven experience in wound management within hospital settings, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics.
- Familiarity with advanced treatment techniques including suturing, IV infusion therapy, sterile processing, and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of medical coding systems such as CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9 for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR platforms like Epic or Athenahealth; telehealth experience is a plus.
- Strong clinical assessment skills combined with excellent communication abilities to educate patients effectively.
- Additional skills such as infection control protocols, pain management strategies—including acute pain management—and familiarity with specialty procedures like spinal taps or catheterization are advantageous.
