Job Summary:
The technologist will perform Laboratory and X-ray examinations according to department protocols and all state and federal guidelines. This includes patient preparation, positioning and imaging using proper technical factors. The technologist will monitor the patients’ environment and safety. The technologist will use all equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and maintenance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) required
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare and position patient for diagnostic imaging procedure
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation
- Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body
- Move imaging equipment into specified position, determine exposure factors and adjust equipment controls to set proper exposure
- Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures
- Process images and review for proper identification and quality control
- Prepare images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician
- Complete forms and maintain records, logs and reports of work performed
- Monitor equipment operation and report malfunctioning equipment to manager
- To assist the laboratory in drawing specimens, preparing specimens/paper work necessary for testing, running specimens, and transporting specimens to other facilities when necessary
- Maintain the proper number of continuing education credits for licensing and accreditations
- Must maintain a professional conduct at all times and adhere to the ARRT’s code of ethics
- Perform the necessary computer/paper tasks related to patient care
- Check in patients, verify insurance, print orders, and Sleep Studies
Education Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) required
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Must be able to use experiences and good judgement to work independently and in a group setting
- Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients
- Must be able to read and interpret all department policies and procedures, technical guidelines, and all state and federal regulations
- Must be able to recognize and understand problems, and develop an appropriate course of action
- Must be able to build and maintain professional relationships within and outside of department
- Must demonstrate active listening skills, ask appropriate questions and take time to understand points being made.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in written form
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position at 40 hours a week. May work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Environment:
Fast paced office environment with numerous interruptions and a very wide variety of tasks. Works in a well-lighted and ventilated office.
