YMCA Summer Camp Lifeguard

The West Shore YMCA is looking for upbeat individuals with a current lifeguard certification or the ability to become lifeguard certified to lifeguard for 2026 Summer Day Camp programming. The YMCA will cover the cost of a lifeguard training course, and pay you for all hours of lifeguard training (30 hours), should all other summer employment requirements be met by the employee.

Hours: Tuesday through Friday from 11:00am-2:00pm, from June 16 to August 7, 2026. Pool Days are located at the Boiling Springs Pool and at the West Shore YMCA throughout the week.

Salary: $17.00/hour – FREE Adult Membership to the Harrisburg Area YMCA included.

Responsibilities: Supervise and engage children in a safe, positive, and supportive aquatics environment.

Requirements: All programs are licensed by the Department of Human Services, and childcare employees must be 16 years of age or older and provide the following:

• Three character references demonstrating ability to work with children (babysitting, childcare, volunteering, mentoring, tutoring, or similar experience)
• Current clearances (less than 5 years old): PA State Police, Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprinting, and National Sex Offender Registry
• Health Assessment/Physical and TB test (less than one year old)
• Reliable access to a computer and internet to complete required online trainings

We understand that some of the required documents and trainings may be new to applicants. The YMCA will provide step-by-step instructions and guidance on how to obtain all required clearances, complete online trainings, schedule a health assessment, and submit references. Our team will support you throughout the hiring process to make it as smooth as possible.
