Young Women’s Streetwear Apparel Designer – Woven / Knits - Downtown, LA

Los Angeles Men’s / Boys’ apparel brand Sovereign Code has launched a streetwear label called Fly By Night (https://www.instagram.com/flybynight.la) and is currently hiring a designer to join the team to build a Young Women’s streetwear apparel line for this brand.

What you’ll do:
This is a full time, in office role for a mid to senior level candidate that will report to the Design Director and collaborate with Merchandising Manager. The Designer will be responsible for initial concepts, creating full tech packs, and managing its product development process. The role involves knowledge of working with vector graphics and all over prints - and in some instances, creating new artwork. The person in this role will bring with them drive and passion for developing technically sound garments with fabulous fit that cater to women’s streetwear styling.

Major Responsibilities:

• Design Young Women’s streetwear on a seasonal basis across cut-and-sew knits and wovens, tops and bottoms.

• Research and identify current trends compiling results in various presentation formats and tools for creative direction.

• Research and compose new print and graphic direction communicating new projects to our Graphic Designers.

• In Illustrator, sketch new bodies and styles applying accurate garment construction, inserting color/fabric texture/stripes/plaids/prints and graphics into merchandises assortments.
• Great eye and experience working with prints and graphics in AI and PS: researching, creating direction, recoloring, editing, sizing, placing on garments, pitching.

• Create tech packs and BOMs with great attention to detail following them through into production.
• Communicate the development process with cross functioning teams, vendors, factories, and freelance designers.
• Responsible for new SMU projects and linesheets.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years design experience.

•In depth knowledge of fabric, apparel, materials, construction and fit.

• Strong skills within Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Excel.
• Experience with young women’s, streetwear, and/ or junior’s design.

• Experience with using AI (artificial intelligence) to inspire your design process is a plus.

• Portfolio website and examples of your work required. Position is in person in our office in Los Angeles, local candidates only.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
