Youth Development Manager

Youth Horizons’ Kinloch Price Boys Ranch (KPBR) is seeking a Youth Development Manager—a compassionate, organized, faith‑driven leader committed to helping boys ages 10–18 grow academically, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and vocationally.

This role is ideal for someone who loves mentoring staff, building youth development systems, and walking with young men who have experienced trauma as they move toward independence and healing.

Your leadership will directly shape the culture, structure, and opportunities available to residents preparing for:

  • Family reunification
  • Foster placement
  • Transitional Living Programs (TLP)
  • Adult residential care
  • Independent living after aging out of the system

What You’ll Do

Youth Development Leadership

  • Coordinate and oversee programming in education, life skills, career prep, health, spiritual growth, community engagement, and recreation
  • Ensure programming meets DCF requirements and follows evidence‑based practices
  • Promote Boys Ranch values of grace, teamwork, professionalism, and enthusiasm

Supervise & Equip Youth Advocates

  • Provide coaching, support, and leadership for Youth Advocates (case coordinators)
  • Lead staff in creating and implementing treatment goals and development plans
  • Partner with HR and training teams to hire and onboard new staff

Education Oversight

  • Build partnerships with secondary and post‑secondary education partners
  • Coordinate tutoring, academic services, school supplies, extracurricular access, and enrollment
  • Support homework time, behavior communication with schools, and academic milestone celebrations
  • Keep ahead of school calendars, deadlines, and requirements

Life Skills & Career Preparation

  • Connect residents to life‑skills programming, volunteers, and professionals
  • Facilitate job partnerships, skill‑building opportunities, workforce programs, and career exploration tools (surveys, shadowing, etc.)

Recreation & Community Engagement

  • Ensure youth have access to indoor/outdoor recreation tailored to their needs
  • Provide staff with activity lists and guidance for planning safe, positive experiences

On‑Call Responsibilities (Every 4th Week)

  • Receive support and training from Youth Advocates and KPBR leadership
  • Provide guidance on medical concerns by phone
  • Transport residents to ERs or JIAC when needed

Additional Duties

  • Manage timely correspondence and data for KPBR and YH leadership
  • Support Youth Horizons events (Gala, Easter Sun Run)
  • Occasionally supervise or transport residents

What We’re Looking ForQualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred (social work, education, psychology, or related field)
  • 3+ years in foster care or youth‑related fields; management experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to demonstrate trauma‑informed, age‑appropriate care
  • Must pass state background and fingerprint checks

  • Ability to juggle many responsibilities and adapt to change
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Understanding of youth with serious emotional disturbances
  • Positive work ethic and reliability

Physical & Environmental Expectations

  • Work occurs indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Possible exposure to loud environments and disruptive behaviors
  • May need to assist in physical restraint (Safe Crisis Management certification required)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Management: 1 year (Preferred)
  • foster care industry/youth related : 3 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
