Youth Development Specialist – South Kona

About Us: Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island empowers local youth to grow into engaged, responsible community members through enriching programs in a supportive environment.

Role Overview: As a Youth Development Specialist, you'll be a key presence in the lives of kids ages 6–17 — keeping them safe, engaged, and growing. You'll plan and lead a variety of activities including sports, arts, tutoring support, and recreational games while fostering a welcoming club atmosphere.

What You'll Do:

• Supervise youth and maintain a safe, structured environment at all times
• Design and lead engaging daily activities and programs
• Serve as a mentor and positive role model for members
• Track attendance, participation data, and program outcomes accurately
• Support facility upkeep and ensure spaces are clean and ready for use
• Collaborate with your supervisor to meet program and grant requirements
• Attend staff meetings and required trainings
• Communicate regularly with parents, schools, and community partners

What You'll Need:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility with scheduling
• Comfort with physical activity and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience working with youth
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to motivate and connect with young people

Valid driver's license preferred; occasional van driving may be required.

• Child & Youth Development: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
• CPR Certification (Preferred)
• First Aid Certification (Preferred)
