Duties

  • ·Assist patrons in the Youth Services Department including all aspects of customer service related to library materials and services
  • Help patrons navigate technology, such as printing documents, accessing emails, and using e-readers
  • Provide excellent service to patrons, creating and maintaining a welcome and pleasant experience
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and members of the community
  • Sort and shelve juvenile materials, such as books, movies, CDs, and digital devices
  • Answer and route all incoming telephone calls
  • Issue new and replacement Library cards and assist patrons with registration forms
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures
  • Attend and participate in job-related meetings
  • Work according to the priorities established by the supervisor
  • Assist other Youth Services staff with execution and preparation of programs
  • Comprehend and follow Library policies and procedures as established by the Board of Trustees
  • Develop an awareness of Library-wide operations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Reliable transportation
  • Well-developed oral communication skills
  • Experience serving and assisting customers
  • Successfully pass a background check
  • Knowledge of Internet and database services
  • Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs and other job-related equipment and systems
  • Experience working with children and/or young adults (preferred, but not required)

Pay: $14.00 per hour
