About BlueCat AIBlueCat AI is a Doha-based EdTech startup building an AI literacy platform for children. Our product includes a companion robot that helps children learn to think critically about AI. We're looking for an engineer to lead the robotics integration for our first hardware product.The RoleWe're hiring a Robotics Integration Engineer to own the development of our educational companion robot. In Phase 1, you'll evaluate and customize existing social robots from manufacturers. In Phase 2 (2027), you'll help design custom hardware.This is a unique opportunity to build a child-friendly robot from the ground up &mdash; not just write code, but shape the entire product experience.What You'll DoPhase 1 (Next 6 Months):<ul><li>Research and evaluate existing social/educational robots (Misty, Kebbi, NAO, etc.)</li><li>Recommend platform selection based on customization potential, SDK, cost</li><li>Integrate BlueCat AI personality and dialogue system into robot</li><li>Implement voice interaction (Arabic + English TTS/STT)</li><li>Develop expressions, animations, and child-friendly interactions</li><li>Work with manufacturer on customization (shell design, branding)</li><li>Deliver working prototype within 3&ndash;4 months</li></ul>Phase 2 (2027):<ul><li>Contribute to custom robot hardware design specifications</li><li>Work with industrial designers and manufacturers</li><li>Lead firmware and embedded systems development</li></ul>RequirementsMust Have:<ul><li>3&ndash;6 years experience in robotics, embedded systems, or mechatronics</li><li>Hands-on experience with robot SDKs or platforms</li><li>Programming skills: Python, C/C++</li><li>Experience integrating AI/ML components or AI models (e.g speech, vision, NLP)</li><li>Understanding of hardware-software interfaces</li><li>Based in Doha</li></ul>Nice to Have:<ul><li>Experience with social robots or educational robotics</li><li>ROS (Robot Operating System) knowledge</li><li>Experience with child-safety standards for hardware</li><li>Background in product development (not just R&amp;D)</li><li>Knowledge of robot manufacturers and supply chain</li><li>Arabic and English language skills (plus)</li></ul>What We Offer<ul><li>Competitive salary (commensurate with experience)</li><li>Opportunity to build a robot product from scratch</li><li>Work on cutting-edge AI + robotics for children</li><li>Small team with high ownership and impact</li><li>Path to lead hardware development in Phase 2</li><li>Mission-driven work in the EdTech space</li></ul>Work Location: In person

You'll coordinate across education, technical, and business teams to keep our product development on track.
