Job Title and Summary: UX Designer LeadOur client is seeking a UX Designer Lead to drive the end-to-end user experience for a Child Care Digital Hub that helps families of children ages 0&ndash;5 understand their child care options and supports providers in starting and maintaining services. The UX Design Lead will own high-fidelity designs and prototypes, refine the product for launch, and guide new features and enhancements in future releases.​Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Collaborate with product, UX research, content strategy, and engineering partners to translate user needs into intuitive design solutions.​</li><li>Design and maintain prototypes and high-fidelity UI for the web-based hub, supporting user testing and development.​</li><li>Plan and conduct prototype testing for new features, analyze findings, and convert insights into design recommendations.​</li><li>Partner with content strategy to shape information architecture, content structure, and messaging for parents and providers.​</li><li>Support final design adjustments before launch and iterate post-launch based on performance metrics and user feedback.​</li><li>Collaborate with developers on implementation details, conduct visual QA, and ensure designs are built to specification.​</li><li>Advocate for accessibility, inclusivity, and equity-centered design throughout the product lifecycle.​</li></ul>Mandatory Qualifications:<ul><li>8+ years of proven UX design experience with a strong portfolio of user-friendly, consumer-facing products (portfolio link required in resume).​</li><li>Expert proficiency in Figma, with experience independently delivering end-to-end design solutions (flows, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity UI).​</li><li>Strong visual design skills, including typography, spacing, and layout for web interfaces.​</li><li>Deep understanding of user-centered design, including journey mapping, low- to high-fidelity mocks, and testable prototypes that support usability and accessibility.​</li><li>Ability to synthesize user research and data insights into clear design hypotheses and UX solutions.​</li><li>Experience partnering with product and content roles to translate requirements into thoughtful interaction and content design.​</li><li>Experience working closely with engineers to test prototypes and perform visual QA.​</li><li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain design decisions to non-design stakeholders.​</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent experience.​</li><li>Experience working on cross-disciplinary product teams (product, engineering, content, research).​</li><li>Experience in public sector, civic tech, or mission-driven digital services.​</li><li>Hands-on experience with usability testing and translating insights into iterative design improvements.​</li><li>Familiarity with working within and extending existing or lightweight design systems.​</li><li>Strong grounding in accessibility standards and equity-centered design practices.​</li></ul>Role Logistics:<ul><li>Location: Hybrid &ndash; 3 days per week on-site in Brooklyn, NY; 2 days remote.​</li><li>Schedule: Monday&ndash;Friday, normal business hours, 35 hours per week</li><li>Duration: Approximately 1 year (project-based assignment).​</li></ul>Job Type: ContractPay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hourExpected hours: 35 per weekApplication Question(s):<ul><li>Candidate&rsquo;s resume MUST include a link to portfolio</li></ul>Ability to Commute:<ul><li>Brooklyn, NY 11201 (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: Hybrid remote in Brooklyn, NY 11201

User Experience (UX) Design Lead

The IT Systems Analyst will support our client&rsquo;s IT Project Management Office in delivering large-scale workflow and map-based software applications for permitting, inspections, roadway repair, bridge maintenance, and street signage management. The consultant will lead analysis, documentation, and coordination across business and technical teams to implement mission-critical systems used daily by our client&rsquo;s operational staff.​Required Skills and Experience:<ul><li>Minimum 8 years&rsquo; experience with application software, data analysis, data structures, databases, programming, testing, implementation, and documentation across mainframe, mid-range, and PC environments.​</li><li>8+ years specifying, analyzing, and documenting requirements for mission-critical web/client-server business applications.​</li><li>Strong experience identifying and documenting functional and non-functional requirements using techniques such as data flow modeling, workflow analysis, and functional decomposition.​</li><li>Proven ability to create and maintain artifacts such as business requirements, business rules, user stories, use cases, process maps, workflows, traceability matrices, permission matrices, and acceptance test cases.​</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to facilitate meetings, gather requirements from diverse stakeholders, and communicate complex or sensitive information tactfully.​</li><li>Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, and facilitation skills, with experience driving consensus among multiple stakeholders.​</li><li>Understanding of application programming, databases, system design, and how legacy and web-based systems interface (Internet/Intranet/Extranet, client/server architectures).​</li></ul>Preferred Skills:<ul><li>BA/BS in a technology-related field or equivalent experience.​</li><li>Subject matter expertise in geographic information systems and experience with ArcGIS; ability to query geospatial datasets and write SQL queries.​</li><li>Advanced Microsoft Visio skills and familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar lifecycle management tools.​</li><li>Basic UX knowledge and ability to prototype user interfaces using tools such as Figma, JustInMind, Visio, or similar.​</li><li>Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and RUP SDLC methodologies and working across multiple concurrent projects.​</li><li>Professional certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) and/or SAFe certifications.​</li></ul>Desired Services / Responsibilities:<ul><li>Work with our client&rsquo;s IT PMO and operational teams to identify, analyze, and document requirements for new and existing workflow and asset management applications, including those with map interfaces.​</li><li>Prepare, review, and update requirements, specifications, business processes, and solution recommendations using standard templates.​</li><li>Collaborate with business analysts, QA, developers, vendors, and other agencies to define, test, and implement functional requirements and acceptance criteria.​</li><li>Lead and participate in requirements-gathering activities (interviews, workshops, surveys, document analysis) and document existing system deficiencies and improvement opportunities.​</li><li>Develop and own analysis deliverables, define acceptance test conditions, create test plans, and support/lead user acceptance testing and defect resolution.​</li><li>Serve as liaison between business units, technology teams, and support teams; manage client expectations, support rollout strategies, and help maintain strong business&ndash;technology partnerships.​</li></ul>Engagement Details:<ul><li>Title: Senior IT Business Analyst / IT Systems Analyst (Analyst 3).​</li><li>Location: New York, NY 10041; primarily in-person per client policies.​</li><li>Schedule: Monday&ndash;Friday, 9:00 AM &ndash; 5:00 PM; up to 35 hours per week.​</li><li>Contract term: Up to 4 years from Notice to Proceed; temporary assignment with possible consideration for full-time employment with our client, subject to eligibility.</li></ul>Job Type: ContractPay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hourExperience:<ul><li>IT: 5 years (Preferred)</li></ul>Ability to Commute:<ul><li>New York, NY 10041 (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
