Keep reading and apply today!R&amp;D Technician JOB PURPOSE: The R&amp;D Technician is responsible for assisting in developing skin, body, and hair care formulations from concept to launch, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Maintain a laboratory setting that meets safety and sanitary standards.</li><li>Work closely with the Cosmetic Chemist to facilitate accurate and timely product formulation and development through collaboration with the NPD Manager and laboratory assistant</li><li>Work in conjunction with laboratory assistants to accomplish daily R&amp;D tasks</li><li>Actively research new concepts, raw materials, and product improvements.</li><li>Discuss raw material information and innovation with suppliers.</li><li>Create marketing sheets for clients' understanding of new product samples.</li><li>Perform and maintain accurate records of routine analytical and physical testing.</li><li>Follow established R&amp;D processes and ensure approved formulas has completed all necessary pre-market steps (documentation, testing, specifications, pilot monitoring, etc)</li><li>Monitor product stability and safety testing and make improvements as needed. Report findings during monitoring and completing stability studies to R&amp;D. Work to develop products from concept to launch throughout the year.DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Responsible for initiating project concepts, developing objectives, planning, assigning priorities, and completing multiple projects under minimal supervision.</li><li>Independently investigate/resolve research problems/scale up issues.</li><li>Communicate with customers on technical aspects as well as regulatory and performance.</li><li>Utilize and follow relevant legal requirements, regulations, and product development standards.</li><li>Determine and perform appropriate cost reductions (raw materials).</li><li>Scale-up of approved formulations, to include identification of critical process variables.</li><li>Some troubleshooting of production issues and address batch variations.</li><li>Set product specifications and write compounding procedures.</li><li>Some supervision and coordinating pilot batches.</li><li>Provide paperwork for new formulas and new raw materials for operations.</li><li>Provide specifications and other information to QC to receive and test new ingredients and finished goods.</li><li>Test stabilities and monitor testing statuses.</li><li>Research product formulations and properties and interactions of raw materials.</li><li>Vendor research for raw materials.</li><li>Interpret results of laboratory findings and assess risks involved in new products and communicate findings to sales and upper management.</li><li>Remain up to date and current on trends in the retail market and trends on formulations materials, ingredients, etc.</li><li>Initiate formal training of Lab Assistant I and Entry Level with help from Director.</li><li>Maintain current technical awareness in hair/skin care technology.</li><li>Learn and optimize skills utilizing equipment recognized in the cosmetic industry as acceptable for obtaining data for pre-clinical testing of formulations,</li><li>Conduct instrumental product performance testing using the Rheometer, Particle Size Analyzer, Polarized/Visible light Microscope (when available), and other related equipment.
