1st Grade Reading Tutor - Part Time, in Person in Santa Cruz

About the student

• 1st grade student
• The student needs to work with a tutor for support with reading.
• The student is a 1st grader at Del Mar Elementary School and is struggling with reading.
• The tutor can follow the student's curriculum and assist with assignments, homework, and test preparation. The teacher is also going to send work home. The student also has a hard time paying attention. For reading, the tutor can work on blending sounds and words, sight words, comprehension, and fluency. She would also like to improve in spelling and writing.
• The overall goals are to build a solid foundation, be proficient at grade level, to begin to read independently, and for the student to gain confidence in her abilities.
• Family wants 1 hour sessions once a week, between 3pm-5:30pm, on Monday or Tuesday. (Family specifically wants sessions to end no later than 5:30pm.)
• Family is seeking a tutor who can meet at their home in Santa Cruz by Twin Lakes State Beach Schwan Lake.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidates have prior experience working with elementary students.
• Ideal candidates will have prior experience teaching/tutoring elementary ELA skills.
• Willing to travel within your preferred local radius to meet the student (typically 5-10 miles)
• Due to insurance requirements, applicants must not be a minor.

Student Availability

MON & TUE: 3:00pm-5:30pm (Sessions must end no later than 5:30pm)

Pay & Benefits
