Background

Carmen Schools of Science & Technology (Carmen) is the largest public charter school network in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a mission to graduate all students as critical thinkers and self-directed learners prepared for success in college, meaningful careers, community involvement, and family life.

Carmen currently operates five campuses, each one as an independent charter school authorized by Milwaukee Public Schools or UW-Milwaukee.

Salary: $21/hr

Position Summary

In order for that mission to be fulfilled students must make meaningful progress towards graduation, and when they stumble, we are there to provide support. The Learning Lab Specialist is a role designed to provide Carmen Southeast students with opportunities to independently engage in grade-level work in a supportive environment. The Learning Lab Specialist is charged with coaching students to successful completion of math programs through weekly check-ins, biweekly family communication, and establishing classroom procedures & routines that support student self-directed focus.

Qualifications

• Absolute belief in the ability of all students to learn and achieve and commitment to ending educational inequity in Milwaukee.
• Associate's Degree required
• Previous coaching experience of any kind highly desirable
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to work comfortably with online platforms after technical training.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal forms.
• Ability to perform duties in a positive, professional manner

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work Environment

The position will work predominantly Monday – Friday during school hours; however, this position may require work on occasional evenings as necessary.
