2026/2027 Library Clerk

United Christian Academy is seeking a dedicated and organized Library Clerk to support the daily operations of our K–12 school library. This individual will assist students and staff in accessing library resources, maintain a welcoming and orderly environment, and promote a love of reading within a Christ-centered academic community.

General Description: Under the direction of the Elementary Principal, lead and direct the school library program. Helps advance the mission and vision of United Christian Academy. UCA recognizes teaching as integral part of the 5-fold ministry given to the church in Ephesians 4:11-13. As such, UCA faculty and staff serve as ministers to help advance the mission and vision of United Christian Academy.

Reports to: Elementary Principal

Qualifications:

  • Must be a born-again Christian.
  • Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
  • Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Statement of Conduct.
  • Must be a member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church.
  • Supports the school’s mission, vision and culture.
  • Communicates in a positive, assertive and supportive manner, avoiding gossip and hearsay.
  • Fully commits to the UCA grievance policy and understands the Biblical plan for conflict resolution.
  • Trustworthy – able to maintain confidential information as appropriate.
  • Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete the assigned responsibilities.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office, OneNote and ability to learn PowerSchool (web-based school management software) and other inventory software.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills, with proper command of the English language.
  • Able to work well independently, manage time well, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Must have strong organizational skills for filing and detailed project assignments.
  • Maintains a workspace environment that is conducive to productive school office.
  • Maintain a “solution conscious” attitude when faced with challenges.
  • Have a positive, cheerful and “can-do” attitude with parents, students and staff and performs all duties as assigned.
  • High School Degree required; additional coursework or experience in library science, education, or a related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a school or public library setting preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  • TB clearance within the last four years.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance.
  • Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986: An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form.

1.4 Uses professional office and phone etiquette appropriate for Christian school office

  • Shows positive, cheerful attitude with parents, students and staff
  • Shows integrity in dealing with confidential information
  • Provides assistance to guests, faculty and staff, parents and students

Domain 2: Essential Duties & Responsibilities

2.1 Assist with the circulation of books and other library materials (check-in, check-out, renewals, shelving).

2.2 Support students and teachers in locating materials and using library resources.

2.3 Maintain an orderly and clean library environment conducive to learning and reading.

2.4 Process new books: ordering, cataloging, labeling, covering, and shelving.

2.5 Perform inventory, data entry, and organization of library records and databases.

2.6 Enforce library rules and encourage respectful behavior aligned with Christian values.

2.7 Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum-related resource needs.

2.8 Help plan and execute reading programs, book fairs, or themed literacy events.

2.9 Monitor library use and report issues to the librarian or administration as needed.

2.10 Support students with basic computer use and educational software in the library setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sitting (50%), standing/walking (20%), lifting (15%), climbing (5%), bending (4%), squatting (6%). Must be able to lift 10-25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment includes indoor and outdoor environments and office and classroom settings. Floating desk assignment and/or shared office space may be required; moderate noise levels commensurate to a classroom environment.
