**COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**
Qualifications Required:
1. Valid Washington State Teacher's Certificate with endorsement in Special Education
2. Satisfactory Evaluations
Qualifications Preferred:
1. Provide for basic education in areas of early childhood development (cognitive, adaptive,social, communication, and motor skills).
2. Evidence of at least one full year successful school teaching experience documented with satisfactory evaluations within the last five years required.
3. Demonstrated success in managing and modifying disruptive student behaviors, executive functioning deficits, and social/personal/responsibility behaviors that may be associated with students with Autism.
4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with MDT and Community Based Learning Sites.
5. Participate in team teaching situations.
6. Evidence of training and experience utilizing computer technology for word processing,spreadsheet activities (i.e. Excel), recording attendance, and communicating by e-mail.
7. Evidence of the ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles.
8. Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
9. Demonstrated leadership in professional activities related to special education.
10. Punctual and consistent attendance.
Job Description:
The successful candidate for Keewaydin Discovery Center will be expected to:
1. Be responsible for the educational programming of preschool aged students with developmental delays including autism in as placed by the district in the program.
2. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
3. Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEP’s).
4. Maintain current IEP’s and monthly student information reports as well as serving as the IEP case manager for students on their caseload.
5. Plan appropriate programs for students in conjunction with Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) members and parents.
6. Write goals and objectives that facilitate and measure student growth.
7. Regularly monitor the progress of students, making changes in programming if appropriate.
8. Assume responsibility for productive use of a classroom educational assistants.
9. Communicate regularly and pro-actively with students and parents regarding progress and behavior.
10. Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships with others.
11. Attend and participate in faculty and team meetings.
12. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations.
13. Maintain the confidentiality of student and family information.
14. Consult with administrators, regular education teachers, community agencies, the court system and the specialists about the educational programming of students with disabilities, as appropriate.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
