RESPONSABILITIES: Assist the 2nd Engineer & Chief Officer in the day-to-day engine room operation, running of vessel/tug movements/activities/operations in accordance with NMDC regulations, policies and operating procedures
Ensure the maintenance of all the engine room and deck machinery for smooth running of operations
Responsible to make sure all the machineries and safety systems are working safely, efficiently and within the provided parameters
Convention on International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea & ISM Code
Assist in carrying out Planned maintenance system (PMS) is to be implemented to avoid any unforeseen and in case of any breakdown maintenance (BMS), should be immediately taken care of
Responsible for storing all the spares properly, keeping and maintaining record of the spares’ inventory
Ensures all oil transfer operations carried out onboard including bunkering in safe manner
Take a lead in record keeping of different records of the engine room has to be maintained and updated regularly
All the spares for engine room machineries like pumps , auxiliary engine etc., are to be stored and inventory to be maintained and updated regularly
Guide the engine crew for training them to operate pollution prevention machineries like OWS , sewage plant etc and on various emergency situations
Assist in for risk assessment, briefing and safety training for the entire engine crew, especically for the junior engineers and fresh crew

Safeguard and motivate crew on the safety observations, to protect the environment, to safeguard the safety of the Vessel
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 05 years’ experience Sea-going experience.
