Chief Engineer

Job Summary:

The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the overall operation, maintenance, repair, and safety of all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems. This role ensures that the property is maintained in excellent condition, complies with all regulatory and safety requirements, and provides a comfortable and safe environment for guests and employees. The Chief Engineer leads the engineering team, manages preventive maintenance programs, and controls departmental budgets and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:Engineering Operations

  • Oversee the daily operation of the Engineering and Maintenance Department.
  • Ensure all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and equipment, are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, kitchen equipment, elevators, generators, and other mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate and monitor all repair and maintenance activities.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
  • Conduct regular inspections of building systems and equipment to identify potential issues.
  • Ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance tasks and maintain accurate maintenance records.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, supervise, and evaluate engineering staff.
  • Prepare duty schedules and allocate work assignments efficiently.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement within the department.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, municipality requirements, fire and life safety standards, and hotel policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and emergency drills.
  • Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and statutory documentation for engineering systems and equipment.

Budget & Cost Control

  • Prepare and manage the engineering department’s annual budget.
  • Monitor expenses and control maintenance and utility costs.
  • Source quotations and coordinate with approved vendors and contractors for repairs and projects.

Project Management

  • Plan and supervise renovation, refurbishment, and capital expenditure projects.
  • Coordinate with contractors and consultants to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Verify the quality of workmanship and compliance with specifications.

Energy Management

  • Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs.
  • Monitor utility consumption and recommend measures to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5–8 years of engineering experience in the Facility Managementand hospitality, industry.
  • At least 3–5 years in a managerial or supervisory role as Chief Engineer or Cluster Chief Engineer.
