Your Specific Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel.
• Knowledge of basic mathematical, statistical, and economic concepts.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

Minimum:

• May be required to travel and work overtime.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Economics, Statistics, Math, related Social Science; or four years' experience in research and analysis.
• Experience using spreadsheet applications.
• Experience using Statistical Software Packages such as SAS, or R.

The Work You Will Do:

The Research Associate is a member of the Labor Market Statistics team of the Division of Workforce Services. This position is responsible for the production, submittal, and publication of Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) estimates to fulfill deliverables of a federal/state contract with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Statistics (BLS). This position is also responsible for the analysis and dissemination of employment and hours and earnings data for the State of Florida and sub-state areas under a BLS grant for the Current Employment Statistics (CES) program on a monthly basis. This position will also designate Targeted Employment Areas for the State and assist in economic research such as economic impact analysis; generating estimates for other surveys; and writing research reports.
