Public Safety Communications Shift Supervisor
Hourly Pay Range $32.81 to $40.09

Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority (911) is currently accepting applications for the position of Public Safety Communications Shift Supervisor. The position, under the general supervision of the Deputy Director, supervises shift operations and staff of the dispatch center to ensure quality services are provided in an efficient, cost-effective, and timely manner. Assists Communications Specialists and ensures established procedures are followed. Assess daily operations and recommends changes as necessary for improved efficiency.

Additionally, the supervisor is able to perform all the job duties of a Telecommunications Specialist to include operating a computer aided dispatch (Tyler/New World CAD) system, a multi-line 911-telephone system, and other systems/applications to receive requests for emergency public safety assistance, provide pre-arrival instructions and determine type and level of response necessary. In addition, operation of radio communications equipment to complete timely and effective dispatch of emergency personnel and equipment as well as monitor the response and safety of responding units.

The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to deal with stressful situations, and provide constructive feedback as well as demonstrated decision-making skills.

Benefits include 72 hours of sick leave (prorated based on hire date) and 40 hours of personal time (prorated based on hire date) provided annually in addition to holiday pay and accrued vacation, tuition reimbursement, overtime, MERS 401A & 457 retirement accounts, health, dental, vision, and consideration for national conference attendance. Starting pay is based on experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or equivalent required. An associate’s or higher degree is preferred. Three (3) or more years’ experience in emergency dispatch is required. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Certifications in CPR/AED, Emergency Medical and Fire Dispatch, certified training officer and LEIN required within three (6) months of hire if not certified already.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
