Description of Work
The Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is seeking an enthusiastic team member to be part of our wonderful organization! The Atlantic Conservation Coalition Staff Attorney provides a full range of legal services for DNCR’s Atlantic Conservation Coalition (ACC) program. Given the nature of the ACC projects, a primary area of focus of this position will be real property and legal aspects of federal and state grant administration and human resources. This position reports directly to the Agency General Counsel. The variety and complexity of duties are diverse. These functions require extensive knowledge of case, statutory, regulatory, and common law. This position must interpret and apply statutes, constitutional provisions, administrative regulations, and precedents to complex legal issues and render sound legal advice. This is a full time, time-limited position, subject to funding availability, which may last up to 60 months.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

This is a time-limited position, subject to funding availability, which may last up to 60 months. Time limited employees are eligible for State Benefits. Recruitment Range: $87,849-$153,736 Annually

Licensed to practice law by the North Carolina State Bar

three years of progressively responsible professional legal experience.

Division Description:
The Atlantic Conservation Coalition office oversees the implementation of the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Governor Cooper's Executive Order 305 (An Order to Protect and Restore North Carolina's Critical Natural and Working Lands). The application proposes 21 shovel-ready projects to protect and restore high-carbon coastal habitats and peatlands to maximize carbon sequestration and coastal resilience benefits, and protect, restore, and develop agricultural and forest land, promoting sustainable forestry management practices to increase carbon sequestration.

Veteran’s and National Guard Preference
