Account Handler - Corporate Risks (Oman)

Muscat, Oman

Lockton are actively looking for an experienced Account Handler to join the Corporate Risks team in Muscat, Oman.


The purpose of the Account Handler role is to develop, manage, preserve, and enhance the relationship with and the service provided to clients. This role will also ensure overall core servicing standards are maintained, contribute towards expanded client service revenue goals, including assisting in the acquisition of new business when required.


You will also be tasked with the provision of management and administration support services for an allocated sizeable portfolio of clients. To aid in the overall administration support provision to corporate risks team/brokers ensuring that the business is retained and developed.


Key Tasks and Duties


  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients.
  • Identify a client’s risk management objectives.
  • Agree and implement a client service plan and annual timetable of visits appropriate to the size and complexity of the client, to build commitment, develop relationships and review our performance.
  • Implement, monitor, and control the renewal procedure.
  • Assist in the placement and renewal of insurance policies.
  • Prepare policy documentation, endorsements, and certificates of insurance.
  • Advise upon changes in perceived risk exposures.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with policy terms and conditions.
  • Co-ordinate the use of other Lockton specialist teams where required.
  • Work closely and collaborate with underwriters to negotiate policy terms, coverage and pricing.
  • Assist clients in the event of major claims and ensure overall claims service provided is to the agreed Lockton standards.
  • Ensure that clients understand the Lockton cash collection terms and monitor and resolve debtor queries in a timely manner to ensure prompt payment of premiums and fees.
  • Review with appropriate associates at the earliest opportunity, any case under attack or where perceived vulnerable or where there are concerns about the relationship.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by understanding their business and risk management needs.
  • Maintain renewal income to at least budgeted levels and in line with set and agreed personal objectives.
  • Identify and progress new business leads by supporting business development initiatives and providing input on potential opportunities for growth.
  • Responsible for client’s KYC and compliance documents as per Lockton’s guidelines.
  • Screening clients and verifying KYC documents.
  • Working with Technical and Compliance Departments for clients’ onboarding.
  • Preparation of accurate checklists, billings and policy/endorsement admin processing matters in a timely manner once received from the Insurer.
  • Maintaining proper file archives, saving all policy documents, endorsement, and compliance documents


Candidate Experience:


  • Broking experience and strong understanding of the Omani market with both client management and market placement exposure on the main corporate lines such as PAR, CGL, WCEL, Money, FG, PI, CAR etc. As well as basic knowledge of other specialized risks.
  • Experienced in working in a fast-paced environment with very short TATs.
  • Have good technical knowledge with the ability to explain the various policy terms and conditions to clients and to negotiate terms with insurers to the best interest of the clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Capable of analyzing policy terms and identifying potential gaps in coverage.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as an insurance broker.
  • Willingness and ability to continue to develop knowledge through formal and informal learning, both internal and external to the company.
  • Knowledge of the resources available within Lockton and how to source such services.
  • An understanding of Corporate Risk lines of business is preferred.
