Job Description: Account Manager – Pharmaceutical Industry

Position Summary

The Account Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding relationships with healthcare providers, hospital systems, distributors, and other key customers within the assigned territory. This role ensures the successful promotion, access, and utilization of the company’s pharmaceutical products while delivering exceptional customer service and achieving sales and growth targets.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders (KOLs), hospital procurement teams, and pharmacy networks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all customer needs, inquiries, and product information.
  • Conduct regular customer visits, in-person or virtual, to understand needs and provide tailored solutions.

Sales & Territory Management

  • Develop and execute a territory business plan to achieve sales objectives and market penetration goals.
  • Identify new business opportunities and manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to closing.
  • Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and therapeutic-area developments to inform strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with promotional guidelines, industry regulations, and internal policies.

Product Promotion & Education

  • Deliver effective product presentations and clinical information to HCPs and decision-makers.
  • Coordinate educational programs, workshops, and lunch-and-learn sessions.
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs when needed to address complex scientific or clinical inquiries.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with marketing, supply chain, regulatory, and medical teams to align on business objectives.
  • Provide customer insights to guide marketing campaigns, demand planning, and product strategy.
  • Participate in sales meetings, training programs, and cross-functional initiatives.

Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain accurate records in CRM systems, including call notes, opportunities, and forecasts.
  • Prepare regular reports on territory performance, market conditions, and customer engagement.
  • Manage budget allocations and ensure effective use of promotional resources.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry, account management, or healthcare-related roles.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets in a competitive market.
  • Experience working with hospitals, clinics, and healthcare systems is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to interpret clinical data and communicate scientific information effectively.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and customer focus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the territory.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30,063.47 - ₹35,000.00 per month
