Account Manager (Digital Marketing Agency)

Job Overview We're hiring Account Managers to help us scale a fast-growing digital marketing agency. This role is for a digital marketing generalist who presents well on calls, has strong judgment, and can run client campaigns using our SOP-driven, AI-assisted delivery system.

We strongly prefer candidates with 5+ years of experience as a client-facing Account Manager / Client Success Manager at a digital marketing agency (or similar). You should be confident leading calls, asking smart questions about a client's business, and discussing strategy.

AI / LLM PROFICIENCY (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

This is a hard requirement. Our delivery system relies heavily on AI, so Account Managers must be highly proficient with large language models.

You should:

  • Use AI daily as part of your work (not "occasionally")
  • Be confident writing prompts, iterating quickly, and getting reliable outputs
  • Understand how to QA AI-generated work for accuracy, tone, and business relevance
  • Stay current on new AI tools and workflows on your own
  • Genuinely value prompting and AI workflow design as a real professional skill

E-COMMERCE AND SHOPIFY EXPERIENCE (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

We work with e-commerce clients, and you need to be comfortable in that world. This doesn't mean you need to be a developer, but you do need to know your way around Shopify and understand how e-commerce brands think about marketing.

You should:

  • Have hands-on experience doing marketing or account management for e-commerce brands
  • Know how to find what you're looking for in Shopify (products, pages, collections, analytics, apps, theme editor)
  • Understand how e-commerce businesses measure performance (conversion rate, AOV, ROAS, traffic by channel)
  • Be able to have a credible strategic conversation with an e-commerce client about their goals

You may also work with WordPress sites and other platforms, but Shopify familiarity is a baseline requirement for this role.

WHAT YOU NEED EXPERIENCE WITH (NON-NEGOTIABLES)

You don't need to be a veteran marketer, but you do need the fundamentals:

  • Some experience in digital marketing (agency, in-house, or freelance/contractor work) and an interest in learning more
  • Comfort with basic SEO concepts and how websites drive leads
  • Ability to log into WordPress and make updates (pages, menus, basic formatting, plugins as needed)
  • Working knowledge of Shopify at the account manager level (navigation, content management, basic analytics)
  • Strong judgment about what matters for a business (prioritization, messaging, offers, conversion basics)

EXPERIENCE WE STRONGLY PREFER (NICE-TO-HAVES)

  • 5+ years as an Account Manager / Client Success Manager at a digital marketing agency
  • Agency experience or experience managing your own clients as a contractor/freelancer
  • Familiarity with e-commerce brands (DTC, retail, consumer goods) and their marketing priorities
  • Familiarity with service businesses (home services, healthcare, trades, education, etc.)
  • Comfort coordinating across specialists (design, web dev, technical SEO)
  • Experience managing projects, timelines, and deliverables

WHAT THE JOB ACTUALLY IS (DAY TO DAY)

Account Managers here run the campaign. You are the owner of outcomes and execution.

You will:

  • Lead client calls and guide strategy conversations (ask great questions and translate goals into priorities)
  • Own the day-to-day progress of client accounts (priorities, timelines, deliverables)
  • Translate strategy into weekly action and keep things moving
  • Use our SOPs + AI tools to produce and QA deliverables (you don't need to be a writer)
  • Delegate SOP-defined production work to contractors
  • Coordinate with specialists when design/technical work is needed
  • Communicate clearly, internally and sometimes directly with clients

90-DAY RAMP-UP (PROBATION PERIOD)

We have a 90-day ramp-up period for all new hires. This gives you time to learn our SOPs and systems, and gives us time to ensure the role is a great long-term fit. During this period, you'll receive training, support, and clear expectations, with regular check-ins to help you succeed.
