Account Specialist

Job Title: Account Specialist

Reports To: Operations Leader
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Shifts available:

Monday – Friday 1200-2000

Friday – Sunday 0700-1900

Position Summary:

The Account Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing the daily scheduling and dispatching of transportation vehicles. This role ensures efficient routing, timely delivery or pickup, and clear communication with drivers and customers. The Account Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining on-time performance, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the main liaison for assigned transportation accounts, addressing client inquiries and resolving service issues promptly.
  • Schedule and dispatch drivers and vehicles to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs.
  • Monitor vehicle locations using GPS tracking systems and coordinate real-time adjustments as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers to provide accurate instructions and updates.
  • Respond to emergencies, delays, or service issues by rerouting or adjusting plans to ensure minimal service disruption.
  • Maintain detailed records of driver schedules, routes, and delivery times.
  • Collaborate with operations, customer service, and logistics teams to ensure smooth transportation flow.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Provide excellent service to customers by handling inquiries, updates, or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Responsible to meet assigned individual KPI’s and goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or vocational training in logistics or transportation preferred.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of dispatching experience in the transportation, logistics, or freight industry.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of routing software, GPS tracking tools, and transportation regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transportation management systems (TMS).

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with frequent communication via phone, radio, and computer systems.
  • May require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts depending on operational needs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and use computer systems for extended periods.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
