Bachelor's degree in Accounting; OR Bachelor's degree to include 9 semester credits in Accounting; OR completion of 9 semester credits in Accounting and four years of Accounting experience are required; OR Additional Accounting experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

The Accountant 1 is a professional accounting position responsible for processing a variety of deposits, including checks, cash, ACH, credit/debit memos, and wire transfers across multiple departments such as Risk Management, County Store, and Parking Operations. This role manages the full invoicing cycle for numerous People and Internal Operations Department (PIOD) Divisions, including Fleet Management, Real Estate Development, Security, and miscellaneous billing. Additional duties include recording journal entries, maintaining organized invoice folders for proprietary departments and constitutional offices, responding to invoice backup requests, and assisting with payment applications and direct journal entries in INFORMS. The Accountant 1 also supports end-of-year financial tasks such as processing MLK rent and capital asset management fees, ensuring timely and accurate financial operations.

PIOD provides a wide range of internal support services for the ongoing operation of County government which focuses on promoting operational best practices and efficient government operations. PIOD provides employee and customer-based business services including centralized human resources, facility management, design and construction management, fleet management, risk management, surplus property disposition services, capital inventory management, and largescale printing services. Through these various business lines, PIOD is engaged in real estate development and management, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, materials management, and parking services.
