JOB DESCRIPTION - ACCOUNTANT

Job Purpose

The Accounts Executive will be responsible for handling the Prayer Tower accounts and other financial operations for the North India region, from Chennai HQ. The role requires proficiency in Hindi to coordinate with regional staff and ensure accurate, transparent, and timely financial reporting in compliance with statutory and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Financial Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for North India Prayer Towers.
  • Record daily financial transactions including donations, staff reimbursements, and operational expenses.
  • Prepare and process invoices, bills, receipts, and journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, hundi offering, and petty cash on a regular basis.

2. Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for North India PTs.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as TDS, GST, FCRA, and Income Tax.
  • Track and report on staff reimbursements and expense claims in a timely manner.
  • Maintain documentation of all financial transactions in an organized and accessible manner.

3. Coordination & Support

  • Liaise with Prayer Tower Managers, staff, and regional teams (in Hindi, as required) to clarify reimbursements, expenses, and financial queries.
  • Assist internal and external audits by providing required documentation and clarifications.

4. Budgeting & Monitoring

  • Support preparation of budgets and forecasts for North India Prayer Towers.
  • Monitor fund utilization and ensure proper allocation of expenses.
  • Report any variances, risks, or irregularities to the Finance Manager/Controller.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–3 years of accounting experience (NGO/social sector experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Tally) and MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with FCRA regulations, NGO accounting norms, and donor compliance (advantage).
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, auditing, and reporting standards.
  • Fluent in Hindi and English (oral & written).
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively with regional teams.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
