Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with expertise in various areas such as corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, and governmental accounting. This role requires proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and providing insights that drive informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliation.
- Conduct financial report writing and interpretation to support management decisions.
- Oversee budgeting processes and cash flow analysis to optimize financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and other applicable laws.
- Assist in tax preparation and reporting, including tax experience related to various entities.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, ERP, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, or similar tools for efficient financial management.
- Mentor junior staff members in accounting practices and procedures.
- Conduct auditing tasks to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Engage in technical accounting matters including securities law and wills, trusts & estate law as needed.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and accrual accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent analytical skills for financial analysis and forecasting.
- Familiarity with private equity accounting practices is a plus.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Experience with general ledger accounting and journal entries.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate account analysis.
